Chemistry Lab Activity: Pigment Extraction

Recently, the foundation class students at Furen International School (FIS) participated in a hands-on Chemistry lab activity focused on Pigment Extraction. The day began with an energizing morning workout as students ventured outdoors to collect flowers and plant specimens from the areas surrounding the school. After gathering their samples, students returned to the lab, where teachers guided them through the scientific principles behind plant pigments.

They learned about the chemical processes responsible for the vibrant colours in plants and explored the methods used to extract these pigments in a controlled lab environment. The experiment was a success, enhancing their understanding and fostering a deeper appreciation of the connection between chemistry and nature.
